Survivors of Childhood Abuse Support Fund

Support for a healthy and happy life

The purpose of the fund is to support the recovery and resilience of survivors by enhancing capacity and capability of third sector and community-based organisations who provide dedicated support.

Funded by Scottish Government and supported by Inspiring Scotland, this £10m fund over 4 years aims to support all survivors in having equal access to services in Scotland. It will also address waiting lists for support, encourage collaboration and innovation amongst third sector providers, and build integration with statutory services.

Improving wellbeing & reducing social isolation

The Survivors of Childhood Abuse Fund helps charities who support those affected by the negative consequences of childhood abuse, enabling them to enjoy good health and participate and thrive in society. The overarching priority is meeting the needs of survivors and listening to what they have to say.

There is evidence linking childhood abuse, trauma and adversity to a range of inequalities including mental and physical health inequalities, alcohol and substance misuse, homelessness, crime victimisation, income inequalities, reduced participation in the labour market and other health, justice, social and economic inequalities.

Person-centred support for survivors can therefore take a range of different forms to address these inequalities and disadvantages, as well as respond to diverse and complex needs associated with childhood abuse.

Digital Directory of Services

In conjunction with Scottish Government, Inspiring Scotland wish to continue to support survivors of childhood abuse, particularly with the impact of the current COVID-19 issue.

For survivors of all forms of abuse, staying at home and with added pressure on statutory services, more people are looking for support from third sector organisations. To help connect people to the right services, we have created a digital directory of organisations providing support to survivors in Scotland at this time.
