The Inspiring Inclusion fund supports charities and social enterprises from the Learning Disabilities sector to improve their resilience and sustainability so they can deliver on key aspects of national learning disability policy and strategy including the Towards Transformation Plan.
Inspiring Scotland and the Scottish Commission for People with Learning Disabilities (SCLD) teamed up to create a leadership course for people with learning disabilities.
The course is designed to help participants develop the skills and tools to make choices that will help them live the healthiest, happiest and most fulfilled life possible.
The next ‘Our Future Leaders’ course is open to 12 people with learning disabilities.
It will run from  Wednesday 1st February – Wednesday June 14 th 2023 .
The ASN Learning Network grew from conversations between Inspired Community Enterprise Trust (ICET) which runs The Usual Place of Dumfries and Borders Additional Needs Group (BANG) in the Scottish Borders, two organisations that work with autistic people and people with learning disabilities in South of Scotland. It is funded by the South of Scotland Enterprise (SOSE) and facilitated by Inspiring Scotland. The Network was established in October 2021 and has run over 2 years.
The Inspiring Inclusion fund works towards the aims of the Scottish Government autism and learning difficulty transformation plan . This plan recognises that people who have a learning disability have the same aspirations and expectations as everyone else and is guided by a vision shaped by the Scottish Government’s ambition for all citizens.
Everyone – including people with learning disabilities – should be able to contribute to a fairer Scotland where we tackle inequalities and people are supported to flourish and succeed.
People with learning disabilities should be treated with dignity, respect and understanding. They should be able to play a full part in their communities and live independent lives free from bullying, fear, and harassment.
‘This is Me’, a collaborative campaign between the Scottish Learning Disability Observatory, Scottish Commission for People with Learning Disabilities (SCLD), Promoting a More Inclusive Society (PAMIS), and Down’s Syndrome Scotland, aims to raise awareness of and challenge the stigma and discrimination experienced by people with learning disabilities.
